The Manchester City Project

Manchester City will face Crystal Palace away in the week beginning August 24th in the second round of the Carling Cup.

Todays draw will see Manchester City face the championship side who reached round two after a 2-1 win over second division side Torquay United.

Previous Encounters:

City played Crystal Palace on the way to the FA Cup Final in 1926. City won the tie 11-4 in the fifth round. They were beaten 1-0 in the final by Bolton. The following clip shows the coin toss and two city goals from the game played at Maine Road.

During the 1926 season City were "typical city" - the managerless side managed to beat United 6-1 at old Trafford in the highest derby victory, beat Palace 11-4, became the first Manchester side to play at Wembley in the FA Cup final against Bolton and managed to get relegated!
