Man City sign Sylvinho

Labels: , , , ,

Manchester City have announced the signing of Brazilian left back Sylvinho. The 35-year-old has joined City on a free after being released from Barcelona at the end of the season.

Sylvinho has previously played for Arsenal, where he made 55 appearances. From there he moved to Celta Vigo before moving to Barca. The capped Brazilian has won three La Liga championships and two Champions League Finals - including the win over Manchester United last term (where he played the entire 90 minutes).

Mark Hughes said on the Official Website:

“Sylvinho has a wealth of experience at the very top level, having represented Brazil and played for some of the very top clubs in Europe,”

“When the chance presented itself to bring him to Manchester City as a free agent I saw it as representing excellent business for us. Sylvinho won the European Cup last season at Barcelona and he will strengthen our defensive options.”

Sylvinho has signed a one-year deal.

Sky Sports are now reporting that Joleon Lescott has passed his medical for Manchester City.
