Manchester City have confirmed that Vincent Kompany will miss the start of the season after being scheduled for a foot operation. Kompany played through the pain with injections and special boots towards the end of last season. However after a period of rest an reassessment the specialists have advised on an operation. Kompany’s presence in the midfield will be sorely missed at the start of the campaign.
However towards the end of last week City were reported to be interested in a move for Alex Song of Arsenal, the powerful player can play in midfield or defence (see earlier post). Whilst Kompany is missing from the team Song would be a good player to have on stand-by in the squad, especially if three time player of the year Richard Dunne leaves the club.
