Martin Petrov Linked with £5 million Spurs Transfer

Labels: , , , ,

Martin Petrov has been linked to a move to Tottenham Hotspur according to the Mail Online. Petrov signed a three year deal with Manchester City in 2007 when City paid £4.7 million to Athletico Madrid. The Mail claims that Petrov 30, who made a successful return from a knee ligament injury at the end of last season, may be prised from City for £5 million.

This article would have been written sooner had I not almost choked on a sandwich in laughter when I first read the report. Martin Petrov has been a consistent light in the premiership for Manchester City. The talented winger could well force Robinho out of the side next season if the manager chooses a straight 4-4-2 formation. Why? Because Petrov is the only out and out winger at the club. He’s also the best crosser of the ball. He gives City an extra dimension, he gives the manager a choice of formations and a depth to a squad capable of sustaining a challenge to the top 4 and winning a domestic cup next year.

Spurs wish to prise Petrov away for £5 million! The only way Petrov would leave would be if he wanted too. Being the only player currently at the club that can play left wing and confident in his own ability - Petrov must consider himself worthy (and rightly so) of forcing his way into the starting line up. Maybe, only maybe in January if things are not going his way would he consider a move – surely.

Your 'avin a laugh - Petrov linked to Spurs

Knowing Harry’s past exploits in the transfer market he has probably got something up his sleeve - like trying to off load Bentley on City... but to be honest he’s probably just better off sticking to his deal for Peter Crouch.
