Last season Kolo was troubled with a published spat with William Gallas and handed in a transfer request in January. Played out of position last term Kolo had a dip in form. Now a part of the Manchester City Project Kolo can revitalise his career as Mark Hughes continues to build a squad capable of challenging the top 4.
Mark Hughes declared on the official Man City website: "I am delighted to welcome Kolo to Manchester City. It is no secret that we have been looking to strengthen our defense, and in Kolo I feel we have recruited a world class player. He brings a wealth of Premier League experience from his seven seasons with Arsenal,”
“Kolo has been a central figure in a very strong Arsenal team for many years, and I have been an admirer of him for a long time. He is strong, quick, reads the game well and will be an influential figure in the dressing room.”
Kolo becomes the sixth signing of the summer, joining former Arsenal team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa-Cruz, Gareth Barry and Stuart Taylor. Along with the other players that City have captured this summer Kolo brings with him a winning mentality and a CV that is littered with achievements. All of the current signings are also proven premiership players whose experience will be invaluable in the forth coming campaign.
